Welcome to our class page!
Over the first couple of weeks of term we have been reading ‘The Lion and the Mouse.’ We have discussed what a fable is and that all fables have a moral. In class we have been learning about rules and why they are important. The children have decided on a set of class rules that they have voted for and agreed to follow by signing their names next to them.
We have been learning about the value of friendship and about the importance of kindness and looking out for each other, writing recipes for the perfect class. We have included ingredients such as hard work, teamwork, happiness, friendship and resilience.
In maths we have been learning about the place value of 3 and 4 digit numbers and have been adding mentally and using written column methods.
Our topic for the rest of the term will be ‘The Romans’ and we will move onto a book called ‘Escape from Pompeii’. We will draw from this an understanding of all things Roman and how in turn, this affected Britain. Our focus will be on developing our knowledge of how Volcanoes form whilst exploring the geological landscape of Italy. We will also be exploring how sound travels through science and music.
This year we have Mrs Clowes supporting the teaching and learning in our classroom.
PE will be on Mondays and Fridays, although it is best for the children to have their PE kits in all week as there are occasions when this may change. We go out for PE in most weather so please ensure children have warm clothing and appropriate footwear in their PE kits. Please ensure any ear rings and jewellery are removed for these days.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be due back in by Wednesday please. Spellings will also be sent home on a Friday and will be tested on a Wednesday.
Please do not hesitate to contact Miss Bailey if you have any concerns or questions.
